Sinus Lift and Dental Implants
Sinus lift procedure may be done in cases where bone is inadequate for placement of dental implants in the upper jaw posterior region.
Maxillary sinuses are air-filled cavities in the upper jaw. Severe bone loss can cause the floor of the maxillary sinus to lower and get close to gums. This leads to insufficient height of bone and dental implants cannot be placed. Therefore, before placing the implant screw, the sinus lining is “lifted” and either rhBMP-2 or a bone graft is tucked below the lining.

Following this, quantity of bone increases and the implant screw can be easily placed. Implant supported crown or bridge can then be fabricated to replace the missing tooth/teeth. Sinus lift is an easy, safe and predictable procedure done for increasing bone height for the insertion of a dental implant in the upper jaw.
